Common questions
How do I print the form?
Go to the Form tab and tap Create the filled form. Your phone's share sheet opens: choose Print to send it to a printer, or save it to Files or Drive and print it from a computer. Print it on plain letter-size paper, one side only. The primary driving supervisor signs and dates the bottom in ink.
A drive's night minutes look wrong.
Night is counted from sunset to sunrise at the home ZIP code in Settings, so check that the ZIP code is right. For a drive that needs a different split, open it from the Log tab, tap Adjust, and type the day and night minutes yourself.
I forgot to tap Stop.
Tap Stop and save, then open that drive from the Log tab and correct the end time. Or tap Cancel this drive and add it again with Add a drive after the fact.
We have two supervising drivers with different phones.
Today the log lives on one phone, so pick one phone to keep it on. Add every supervisor in Settings and tap who is in the passenger seat before each drive. Sharing one log across phones is on our list.
How do I move the log to a new phone?
On the old phone, open the Form tab and tap Export a backup, then keep the file somewhere safe, such as email to yourself or a cloud drive. If you need help restoring it, email us.
I bought the form export. How do I restore it?
Purchases are tied to your Apple ID or Google account. Reinstall DriveTally on a phone signed in to the same account and tap the form button; the store will restore your purchase at no charge.
How do I get a refund?
Apple and Google handle refunds. On iPhone, go to reportaproblem.apple.com. On Android, see the Google Play refund page in your Play Store account. If you have trouble, email us.
How do I delete my data?
Delete drives from the Log tab, or delete the app to erase everything. We don't keep a copy and there's no account to close. See our privacy policy.
Minnesota requirements
Teen drivers under 18 need at least 50 hours of supervised driving, 15 at night, or 40 hours (still 15 at night) if a parent completed the supplemental parent class (Minn. Stat. 171.055). The log goes on the Minnesota Supervised Driving Log template and is presented at the road test. Requirements can change, so check with Minnesota Driver and Vehicle Services at dps.mn.gov.
